19th Senate District Update: April 18, 2025

Happy Friday!

This week, I was able to meet down in Madison with the Alliance of Health Insurers, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare Group, Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics to discuss budget priorities and important legislation for this session. We made progress on several critical proposals that will increase access and affordability for patients and providers alike.

I was also able to meet with department secretaries as a part of the confirmation process. Department of Workforce Development Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek and I got to know each other and discussed department initiatives DWD is taking to reduce unemployment and provide a more streamlined unemployment insurance process. I met with Secretary-designee Wendy K. Baumann from the Department of Financial Institutions to dive into more ways the department is combating fraud and overseeing banks and credit unions. I also met with Department of Corrections Secretary-designee Jared Hoy regarding the state’s prison system and future plans for several institutions.

This week, Appleton International Airport held its open house for the new terminal expansion project. Congratulations to Director Weber and the entire ATW team for their hard work getting things ready just in time for the 2025 NFL Draft! I was proud to fight for state funds for this expansion last session and look forward to the great future this community asset will have!

Lastly – shoutout to Parkside School from Wautoma for making the trek down to Madison this week!

Thank you to both groups from Wautoma's Parkside School for visiting Madison this week! Thank you to both groups from Wautoma's Parkside School for visiting Madison this week!
