Appleton City Council Update: April 5, 2026

Happy Easter! We have some important items, lots of important but not especially controversial items, and an extremely important Tuesday Election Day.... all in one Committee Meetings Week in the City of Appleton. If you have feedback on the above items or really anything else city-government-related, please do not hesitate to reach out and let me know.

Appleton Citizens Ask about AASD Referendum, Performance, and More

At the Q&A session I held on Saturday, I kept reiterating that something has changed in the Appleton Area School District ... and not for the better. I received tremendous pushback along the lines that progress is being made and not supporting the referendum would be a severe setback.

Report on October Meeting with the Mayor

On October 21, 2025, several representatives of Appleton Concerned Taxpayers (ACT) met with Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford. We discussed several items of concern with respect to the city budget, including questions about wastewater and stormwater expenses in the 2026 budget and debt service increases. We also discussed the "Stop the Noise" project and other non-budget-related matters.

A Door-Knocking Conversation

In the end, we agreed that we had different political views and that they wouldn’t sign my paperwork. We wished each other a Merry Christmas and shook hands. I left the conversation stating that this was why I had a Charlie Kirk sign. We were able to have a frank exchange of ideas, not get upset with each other and still part on good terms.

56th Assembly District Update: April 3, 2026

Students from Emanuel Lutheran in New London came to Madison to tour the Capitol. They were greeted by members of State Rep. Dave Murphy's staff. The Capitol is the people's house, and it's always special to see kids get to experience our amazing Capitol for the first time.
