Press Release Regarding the Censure of Supervisor Tim Hermes

We at The Republican Party of Outagamie County believe that the Bill of Rights is the fundamental bedrock of our free country. The First Amendment, that protects Freedom of Speech, was considered to be so important that it was listed first in our nation’s most important document. When any citizen, including elected officials, makes statements that are not liked by others, the proper recourse should be at the ballot box.

The resolution for Censure of Outagamie County Supervisor Tim Hermes on June 6, 2023 (for his comments made at the May 9, 2023 DEI Presentation) was voted on and passed by the Outagamie County Board 21-8.

Therefore we, The Republican Party of Outagamie County, publicly condemn the votes of the twenty-one County Supervisors who voted to censure Supervisor Hermes. We believe that the Outagamie County Board not only stripped Supervisor Hermes of his Constitutional Right of Freedom of Speech, but also the constituents that he was elected to represent in District 14 of Outagamie County. The Republican Party of Outagamie County commends the vote of the eight supervisors who voted NO to the censure.

Because we believe in holding elected officials accountable at the ballot box, the proper recourse is to be done during the next election. The County Supervisor elections are held every two years, with the next being in April 2024. We will assist all candidates who will uphold the Constitution, not repress it.

We also strongly encourage you as constituents, to contact your elected official and make them hear YOUR voice on this issue in particular. Your elected official’s email can be found at the link below by clicking on their name.

If you live in one of the districts that voted for censure listed below, please contact our office if you are interested or know of someone interested in running for these supervisor seats:

District 1,2,4,5,6,8,11,12,13,15,16,17,20,21,24,25.27,28,33,35,36
