Week three of “what we got done for you!”
One big change that will help Hmong veterans get the recognition they deserve is Assembly Bill 385, now 2023 Act 205.
The old law on veteran IDs did not take into account the brave Hmong veterans who fought alongside us against communism and became naturalized citizens as a result of the Vietnam War. This law will add Hmong veterans admitted to the United States under the Hmong Veterans’ Naturalization Act to the definition of “veteran” for the purposes of the status on state ID cards.
These folks are our neighbors, friends, and family that have made important contributions to our communities and answered the call to serve.
My staff and I were also happy to meet with:
- Office of School Safety
- Appleton Historical Society
- Neenah Historical Society
- University of Wisconsin-Madison
- CASA of the Fox Cities
Next week, I look forward to many more meetings in our area!
