Hello! This week, both the Senate and Assembly held floor sessions, voting on hundreds of items. Several bills I was proud to lead the fight on are now headed to the governor’s desk, including proposals that will ensure inmates in active psychosis are brought to the proper facilities and making more of your retirement income tax-free.
I am also proud to have led the fight to ensure our best and brightest students are given admission to our University of Wisconsin campuses. In the past, university admission practices were mired in secrets and hidden behind redacted documents. 2023 Act 95 changes that. Now, it’s simple: if you are a top student in your class, you have the opportunity to attend one of Wisconsin’s universities regardless of your background.
My staff and I were also happy to meet with:
- Madison College Student Government
- Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter
- Wisconsin Hospital Association
- The Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities
- American Council of Engineering Companies
- Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin
- Wisconsin Bankers Association
- Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities
Next week, I look forward to having many meetings in Madison and meetings around our area!
