19th Senate District Update: June 24, 2023

t was a busy week in-district and in the legislature! My staff and I had productive meetings with:

  • Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield
  • Department of Health Services (DHS)
  • Veterinarians
  • Health care professionals

The Joint Finance Committee has finished all of their action on the state budget this week. It now will head to the floor next week to be voted on by both houses before heading to the governor’s desk!

Tax cuts will be included in this budget proposal—including nearly $3.8 billion going back to hardworking taxpayers! The average income tax cut under the plan will be $573 per tax filer beginning in FY2023, a tax decrease of 15.1% across all filers. Wisconsin, currently, has one of the highest income tax rates in the country, more than 2 points higher than Illinois.
