19th Senate District Update: March 14, 2025

Happy Friday (& upcoming St. Patrick’s Day on Monday)! It was quite the jam-packed week. Both the assembly and senate health committees met to hear why the Department of Health Services arbitrarily raised fees on providers for screening tests and move several de-regulatory bills through the legislative process. This included reducing barriers for more providers to serve as medical advisors, entering compacts that allow for easier state-to-state mobility, and other proposals that cut down the lag time for beginning records processing.

We also had quite a few other meetings in Madison. We were able to meet with the Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network, Wisconsin Healthcare Association, ADVOCAP, Wisconsin Autism Providers Association, LeadingAge Wisconsin, Survival Coalition, Alexion Rare Disease, Mantra Health, Coalition for Campus Wellbeing, and Rayus Radiology. These meetings revolved around health services, long-term care, and budget priorities for this session.

We also met with the secretary-designees of the Department of Administration, Department of Transportation, and the Department of Natural Resources. It was good to meet them and discuss issues relevant to our area, including the I-41 project and the Manawa dam.

Thank you to those who attended my listening sessions last week in Wautoma and Waupaca! I hope to see a lot of you at the town hall taking place this next week in Waupaca.
