It was a busy week in-district and in the legislature! I was happy to participate in several meetings and events in-district. I also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many constituents while I was in Madison and in Appleton!
I chaired a public hearing in the Senate Health Committee on two bills: The APRN Modernization Act: This key legislation would bring Advanced Practice Nurses to the full scope of their authority, if passed, Wisconsin would join 26 other state’s that allow Nurse Practitioners to practice independently. We also heard a bill that would provide statutory protections for the use of the “physician.”
This week my staff and I had productive meetings with:
- Esther
- American College Testing (ACT, Inc.)
- The Wisconsin Counties Association
- Wisconsin Nurses Association
- Wisconsin Family Action
- Department of Children and Families
- Wisconsin Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics
- University of Wisconsin System President Jay Rothman
- Alliance Health Group
- Wisconsin Women’s Council
- Tour of Fox Valley Lutheran High School
- Tour of Tullar Elementary

- To require WEDC to spend at least $2 million on veteran attraction
- Require WEDC to report how many veterans choose Wisconsin for their first move when they leave the military
- Increase government transparency by providing $10 million in a matching fund plan for WisconsinEye, which will enable them to remove their paywall for members of the public to view archived state government meetings
- Provide $7 million more into the Youth Apprenticeship program
- Provide $3 million more into Career and Technical Education Incentive grants
- Provide $500,000 for Commercial Driver License (CDL) Training grants
