Five Bills Pass Senate Committees
Last week was a successful week in the Senate for my bills. Five of them passed out of committee!
SB 44 prohibits political subdivisions and sewerage districts from prohibiting the keeping of up to four chickens or quail (fowl) by property owners or certain lessors on properties zoned for residential use.
SB 37 bill prohibits a political subdivision from requiring a permit for or prohibiting the cultivation of a vegetable or flower garden on residential property not owned by the political subdivision.
SB186 creates a financial incentive to serve a department by providing a stipend to cover training costs. An applicable municipality that has an ordinance to provide a 100% match would receive a grant from the Department of Administration to cover training costs up to $250 per volunteer firefighter.
Individuals could then receive up to a $500 stipend, with the other half coming from the municipality.
SB 95 requires restitution to be paid immediately to human trafficking victims in Wisconsin once the perpetrator is convicted. If the defendant fails to pay restitution immediately, the court is required to issue an execution against the property of the defendant.
SB 94 creates a pathway for restitution to be paid to those who suffer injury or loss as a result of a riot.
Now that the chickens and other bills have been voted out of committee, I hope to see them pass on the Senate floor soon!
