George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation
“Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the [28th] day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be—that we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks—for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation—for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence.” –George Washington
Hi everyone! I wanted to send out a quick e-update to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. Pretty soon the legislature will be back in session, and things will get hectic very quickly. In the calm before the storm, I am taking more time to soak in the many blessings God has gifted me. I am thankful for a wonderful family, who has been a great support during this election cycle, and I am thankful for all those who have contributed time, money, resources, etc. to helping not only my race but my fellow colleagues as well.
I pray each and every one of you has a wonderful holiday season. If you can, take some time this week to reflect on this past year and what you have to be thankful for.
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.
-Psalms 95:1-3
