2nd Assembly District Update: October 18, 2023

Happy Wednesday! Last week, the Assembly was in session to discuss and vote on three bills. Although we have already discussed this legislation in a previous e-update, I thought that, as a refresher, it would be good to go over these bills in depth again.

AB 377 would require each school board, independent charter school, and private school participating in a parental choice program (educational institution) that operates or sponsors an interscholastic, intramural, or club athletic team or sport to designate the athletic team or sport as falling into one of three categories: female, male, or co-ed.

AB 378 would require the University of Wisconsin and technical colleges to designate teams based on one of three categories. The three categories are: 1) participants who are males or men; 2) participants who are females or women; and 3) coeds or participants of both sexes.

AB 377 and AB 378 both seek to protect female student athletes from mediocre males invading their private spaces and stealing their opportunities. I’m sure we all have a daughter, sister, niece, or friend whom we care about and want to see succeed in every area of their lives. Sports are a great tool to learn leadership and the value of hard work towards a goal. But mediocre male athletes are invading women’s sports by pretending they are girls and stealing their victories, their positions, and their scholarships. And the politically correct on the left would simply tell these ladies to just shut up and put up with being sidelined by males.

During session, Rep. Vos gave a speech I felt was worth mentioning in this e-update. To listen to his floor speech, click here.

AB 465 prohibits gender transition medical intervention for those under 18 years of age. Specifically, this prohibits health care providers from engaging in or making a referral for puberty suppressants, cross-sex hormones, or surgery to change the minor’s body to reflect a different biological sex.

As a small government legislator, I don’t really care if adults want to cut off parts and sterilize themselves. But children often have foolish ideas, and we should not be allowing children to permanently disfigure and sterilize themselves until they are 18. Studies show that over 90% of children questioning their gender will resolve themselves to their birth sex by adulthood if not prompted and urged to undergo permanent life-altering procedures. And people who perform these procedures on naïve children are robbing those children of their own future and families.

Rep. Tusler gave a great speech on AB 465. He provided a lot of statistics and irrefutable facts on the issue that I think everyone should be able to agree on. To hear his speech on gender transition medical intervention, click here.

This past weekend consisted of a TON of in-district events! First, I stopped by the WDP High School Craft Fair and stocked up on some more lip balm from “Fighting Cancer with Grace” (preparing for winter already!). Then, I had to stop by the Wrightstown High School Craft Fair for some booyah to support the robotics team. Later in the afternoon, it was Two Rivers Applefest, where I purchased some delicious apple cider! Lastly, my daughter and I stopped for some steak at the Maribel Community Center. I’m so thankful for a community that keeps me busy on the weekends!
