Take My Budget Survey Now
As the legislature works its way through our biennial budget cycle, I’ve been able to meet with and hear from many constituent groups representing varying causes. I always appreciate people taking the time to be involved in the legislative process, and I would like to extend that opportunity to all my constituents.
My budget survey is now open at the link below! The survey aims to give me a better understanding of the perspectives and opinions of my constituents on current issues in our state. Your feedback will be utilized to inform and guide my positions and advocacy efforts as we craft the state budget.
I encourage you to provide honest and thoughtful responses as your input is highly valued, and I appreciate your willingness to participate and share your insights.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Act Receives Public Hearing
I had the opportunity this week to testify in favor of the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Act, which would create a pathway for candidates who have suspended their campaigns to prevent their names from appearing on Wisconsin ballots.
During the 2024 presidential campaign cycle, we saw firsthand the effects of a quirk in our state’s election law. Although RFK Jr. formally suspended his presidential campaign, he could not remove his name from Wisconsin ballots because, as we all quickly learned, the only way to do so in Wisconsin is by passing away. Our current law is out of touch with real-world circumstances that may impact a candidate’s desire to continue through Election Day, but perhaps even more troublesome, existing law can directly increase voter confusion.
Assembly Bill 35 creates a clear timeline and set of requirements for candidates to meet in the event that they no longer want to appear on the ballot. A candidate would be required to submit a sworn and verified statement to the Wisconsin Elections Commission attesting that they are withdrawing their candidacy. They must also adhere to a strict deadline when filing this statement and must pay a processing fee for this service.
Most states have a pathway in place for candidates to remove their names from the ballot, and it is in the best interest of our voters to adopt such a pathway in Wisconsin. I’m grateful this bill is making its way through the legislature.
