Tackling the Workforce Housing Crisis
Last week, I had the opportunity to join other Green Bay-area elected officials at a meeting to discuss the major issues impacting our communities. The focus at this meeting was tackling the workforce housing crisis in Wisconsin. This is a growing issue in not just our community but all over the state – and it’s causing real problems for employers and employees alike. The discussions at these meetings are always beneficial and help shed light on a variety of issues our communities are facing.
This issue received significant attention in the state budget passed earlier this summer, and the Legislature made sure to include new tools for local governments, developers, and residents to create more affordable workforce housing. You can learn more about the various new housing programs by clicking here. The work is not done, however, and I look forward to finding new ways to address this problem.
