4th Assembly District Update: February 14, 2025

QUICK LINKS

Public Comments on Wildlife Management

The Wildlife Management Program at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is currently seeking public input, which will be open until February 28.

The DNR’s Wildlife Management Program oversees the management of wildlife game species and their habitats. Managing species requires a balance of many priorities, including enhancing the long-term viability of the species, addressing nuisance and agricultural impacts, and supporting related recreational opportunities.

The Wildlife Management Program is developing its next Strategic Plan to help direct the program in determining priorities. They desire to gather input from the public, as Wisconsin’s wildlife species are a resource we all use and care about.

The DNR is currently holding a public input process for all members of the public to share their thoughts on their objectives. In particular, they are looking for feedback on how the public wants us to rank DNR priorities.

This feedback will be reviewed and discussed in detail in their remaining meetings before they finalize the strategic plan. The survey typically takes around 10 minutes to complete.

Your input is vital to the DNR as they develop their future strategy, and I encourage everyone interested to make their voice heard at the following link: https://www.research.net/r/WDNRWildlifeManagementInput.

Engaged in Madison

As the session has been underway, I have had the opportunity to meet with a variety of constituents and their advocacy groups in Madison.

This week, I met with the Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin, who shared their ongoing developments and projects as well as the priorities that public power companies have for their ratepayers this session. It is always a pleasure to have them as they are an essential piece of the energy puzzle and consistently serve as a resourceful voice for their customers.

I was also able to host the Clerk of Courts from the counties which comprise the 4th Assembly District. These individuals possess a thoughtful and experienced understanding of the roles that counties and their court systems play in maintaining necessary government functions, as well as promoting public safety. Given that we share constituencies, I appreciate that they made the trip down to Madison to highlight their services and enhance their relationship with the state.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and hearing from many others, ranging from agriculture groups to medical professionals. As we work through the budget cycle, it is important to have these conversations with groups that represent various causes that are important to my constituents. I am grateful to have active members of our community participating in the legislative process.
