4th Assembly District Update: May 16, 2025

DPC: Bolstering Direct Primary Care

This week, the Assembly passed Senate Bill 4 to provide legal clarity and strengthen Direct Primary Care (DPC) agreements.

Under DPC, patients can choose a primary healthcare provider and pay directly for services or through a subscription outside of the patient’s primary health insurance provider. This approach offers reduced costs for direct primary care services, and the bill protects the integrity of these arrangements to ensure patients can access them at a competitive rate.

DPC arrangements are more prevalent in underserved rural areas, making this necessary legislation a win for accessibility, preventative care, and lowering costs.

Continued Progress on Nuclear Energy

The State Senate passed Senate Bill 125 this week, taking a big step toward ensuring clean and efficient nuclear energy meets the state’s energy needs. The bill, which I authored with Representative Sortwell and Senator Bradley, establishes a nuclear siting study to enable the state to identify opportunities for nuclear development, including the location of sites suitable for nuclear fission or fusion technologies.

I’m thrilled that our siting bill has earned bipartisan support and has such strong momentum. Wisconsin can be a leader in energy innovation, and we’re taking the steps to make that potential a reality. The bill has already had a hearing in the Assembly, and we are optimistic that it will continue to progress through our chamber and on to the Governor’s desk.
