4th Assembly District Update: May 30, 2025

Supporting the Local Court System

I was glad to join Brown County Officials and other local legislators at the Courthouse this week to stand in support of Representative Benjamin Franklin’s budget motion to improve the justice system in Brown County.

The county has highlighted many issues stemming from a lack of proper adjustments to the justice system. The fact of the matter is that public safety should be a priority in the budget, and enabling the Brown County court system to appropriately expand its operations is not only the just thing to do for the accused and incarcerated, but it would be a win for victims and their advocates.

This is a bipartisan effort to allocate the resources necessary to put an end to the years of delays that both victims and defendants have faced in Brown County. The proposal would give the county two more judges, two additional court reporters, three assistant District Attorneys, and two support positions at the Green Bay Public Defender’s office. This represents an investment in one of the many aspects of public safety, and I am thankful Representative Franklin has brought it forth.

Final Opportunity for Budget Input

My budget survey, open at the link below, will close after this weekend. The survey aims to give me a better understanding of the perspectives and opinions of my constituents on current issues in our state. I thank all of you who have already taken the time to share your thoughts, and I encourage the rest of you to provide honest and thoughtful responses. Your input is highly valued, and I appreciate your willingness to participate and share your insights.

Having compiled the survey results, the Legislature will begin finalizing budgetary items throughout the month of June using input from our constituents. We hope to deliver a biennial budget by the end of the month that works for Wisconsin.
