Assembly Passes Bill Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools

The Wisconsin Assembly took up and passed Assembly Bill 251, which will help address the shortage of mental health professionals in our schools.

This week, the Assembly took up and passed Assembly Bill 251, which will help address the shortage of mental health professionals in our schools by allowing Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) to obtain a license through the Department of Public Instruction. This license will allow MFTs to be hired directly by school districts in order to provide critical mental health services to our kids.

2023 Capitol Christmas Tree

This year's theme for the Wisconsin Capitol Christmas Tree is "175 Years of Wisconsinites."

Each year there is a new theme for the Wisconsin State Capitol Christmas Tree. This year’s theme is “175 Years of Wisconsinites.” This theme is aimed at celebrating all of the outstanding Wisconsinites who have played a role in making Wisconsin the great state that it is today.

A big part of this holiday tradition includes hand-made ornaments created by students and families all across Wisconsin. Now is the time for students to share their talents by sending in ornaments to adorn our capitol’s tree. Here are a few tips for those wishing to participate:

  • Ornaments should be strong enough to be shipped and handled.
  • Ornaments that are 4-6 inches in size are ideal.
  • Use colors that will contrast with the tree to ensure the ornament can be seen and enjoyed by all.

Any students or families wishing to participate in decorating this year’s capitol Christmas tree by sending a “175 Years of Wisconsinites” themed ornament, should mail their creation by Wednesday, November 22, 2023 to the following recipient/address:

Emily Gorman
