55th Assembly District Update: October 12, 2023

The Speaker’s Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) held its first public hearing yesterday. The Task Force heard from Google, Adobe, the National Conference of State Legislatures, and the public about what the future of AI looks like. I am looking forward to the three future hearings (details to follow), to learn more about what AI means for our citizens and how we can safely transition into the future.

Since 2009, Wisconsinites have been prohibited from opening new tobacco bars. By proposing AB 451 , it would allow for new cigar bars to be opened.

Below is an excerpt from an article on this bill,

“Rep. Nate Gustafson, R-Neenah, said the bill will simply allow for a free market for cigar bars, instead of limiting the number of establishment to those in existence years ago. Gustafson, who is one of the authors of the bill, said he was approached by a constituent looking to open a new cigar bar.

“This is about consumer freedom and business owners who want to go down this path of opening up their own cigar lounge,” he said.”
