56th Assembly District Update: April 11, 2025

State Referendum Disclosure Notice Bill

Wisconsin Assembly Republicans introduced the State Referendum Disclosure Notice Bill.

This week my colleagues and I introduced the State Referendum Disclosure Notice Bill. In recent years we’ve seen referendums that poll very well, and yet the election results go the other way. In talking with my constituents they often find the legal jargon on the ballot confusing. This bill addresses this issue, provides clarity for the public, and is a common sense reform.

This Week at the Capitol

Two bills introduced by Wisconsin State Rep. Dave Murphy, Assembly Bill 154 and Assembly Bill 93, received a hearing in the Agriculture Committee.

This week two bills that I Co-Sponsor, Assembly Bill 154, and Assembly Bill 93 received a hearing in the Agriculture Committee. These bills are technical changes to existing laws on which seeds farmers are allowed to use, and which type of fertilizers that they are allowed to use. As a former dairy farmer I’m proud to serve on this committee, which does important work to help Wisconsin’s farmers.

Jay Schumerth of Hortonville (see photo above) stopped by the office Tuesday as part of the Wisconsin Hotel and Lodging Association‘s annual legislative day. We discussed the 2025-27 State Budget, as well as other issues that impact the hotel and lodging industry.

Representatives of CAP Services visited with Wisconsin State Rep. Dave Murphy in Madison.

This week folks from CAP Services visited the office. CAP Services is a nonprofit that serves a 5 county area which includes Outagamie and Waupaca counties. Thank you to Nicole, Rachel, Mandy and Scott for stopping by.
