Assembly Votes to Crack Down on Illegal Immigration
On Tuesday I voted for Assembly Bill 24, a bill that requires County Sheriffs to attempt to verify citizenship status when an individual is booked into their jail on a felony charge. After they have verified citizenship status, the Sheriffs are then required to notify ICE if they are holding someone who has a federal warrant. This common-sense legislation is important because unfortunately Dane and Milwaukee counties do not cooperate with ICE, putting our entire state at risk. I am proud to have voted to keep Wisconsin families safe.
Capitol Meetings
Wednesday I hosted UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Andy Leavitt and his team to discuss the upcoming budget. Thank you to Jack, Melanie, and Greg who joined Chancellor Leavitt in the meeting.
Also on Wednesday I was joined by Dani and Melissa from the Fox Valley YMCA. They were in Madison to discuss childcare and the budget.
