3 New Listening Sessions Scheduled
Listening sessions in my district are a great opportunity to have your voice heard. The purpose of these listening sessions is to find out what your concerns and priorities are as Wisconsin gets set to enact a new budget. Unlike the federal government, Wisconsin must have a balanced budget. Due to responsible budgeting by Republicans in the past, Wisconsin is in a strong economic position. We must continue to make careful decisions as we move forward in these uncertain times.

Committee Hearings
On Wednesday, the Assembly Committee for Regulatory and Licensing Reform held a public hearing on three bills.
- The first was AB-60. This bill dealt with licensing of adult entertainment establishments. The bill prohibits people who have been convicted of certain offense from owning such establishments, it prohibits people under 18 from being employed in any capacity at such facility, and it requires that these establishments display posters created by the US DOJ and Homeland Security regarding human trafficking information and help lines.
- Next up was AB-143, which will help speed up the licensing process for six different health-care related professions. We have been hearing a great deal about shortages in key areas of our workforce, and this bill will greatly speed up the process of people getting their licenses so they can get to work saving lives.
- Finally, AB-144 came before the committee. I authored this bill, and as author was required to testify along with my co-author, Senator Rachel Cabral-Guevara. I am proud of this bill, which was my first to have a hearing. AB-144 grants certain healthcare professionals a preliminary license to practice in their chosen profession immediately upon completion of education and training, and upon submitting an application for a permanent license. Both Senator Cabral-Guevara and I have heard from numerous constituents, some who have been waiting 6 months, to have their license to practice medicine or dentistry approved. In all of the cases we know of, the license was eventually approved. This bill allows the doctor or dentist to get working while the Department of Safety and Professional Services process the application without interference.
In District Doings
I had the opportunity to visit with Outagamie County Sheriffs office. Sheriff Clint Kriewaldt gave me a tour of the facilities, introduced me to other members of the department, and took the time to discuss the issues they are facing in law enforcement.
River View Middle School in Kaukauna celebrated 100 years. I heard many fun memories from people who attended school at River View in years past. The middle school choir also offered an amazing performance.
I am here to serve District 5. If you are part of a business, group, or organization that would like to meet, please contact my office at (608) 237-9105 to schedule.
