Accepting Hometown Hero Applications
Our office is looking for a Hometown Hero!
Throughout the year, before each session begins, a “Hometown Hero” will be recognized and honored at the beginning of the floor period.
The Hometown Heroes program seeks to identify and recognize individuals from around the state who give of themselves to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of those around them. These are people whose care and concern for others causes them to unconditionally intervene, mentor, or lend a hand wherever needed.
For example, a couple of years ago we had a young lady as our Hometown Hero who, at the age of 12, created a nonprofit organization that focused on bringing joy to cancer patients and their families. She was hardworking and dedicated to her organization, “Fighting Cancer with Grace,” and her academics, and was the perfect example of someone who was a hero to our community.
If you have someone you would like to nominate, please reach out. If interested, you can respond to this email with the person’s name and contact information and a short description as to why they should be recognized as a Hometown Hero. We look forward to hearing from you!
2025-26 Committee Assignments
This week I wanted to update everyone on which committees I have been assigned to. Now for those of you who don’t know what an assembly committee is, a committee is a group of legislators who focus on a particular topic, like education or housing. For instance, a bill about schools would probably be referred to the Assembly Committee on Education. This specialization helps the legislature to give each bill the attention it needs.
To kick it off, I am once again the chairman of the Regulatory Licensing Reform Committee. As you may have guessed, this committee deals with legislation pertaining to licensing. A big focus last session was getting qualified individuals their licenses easily and quickly. We want to see people stay in Wisconsin, and a big part of that is how easy the process of getting licensed is.
I am also the vice-chair of the Committee on Government, Operations, Accountability, and Transparency (GOAT). This is a newly formed committee that will be taking a closer look at state government operations, looking into opportunities for the government to work better and eliminating potentially unnecessary bureaucracy.
Additionally, I have been placed on the Committee of Criminal Justice and Public Safety, the Energy and Utilities Committee, the Insurance Committee, and the Sporting Heritage Committee.
While some of these committees are new, and others I have previously served on, I’m excited to get to work on them all, and I look forward to sharing with all of you how each one is moving forward throughout the year.
WCC 18th Legislator Town Hall
Last Saturday, some of my colleagues and I participated in a Legislative Town Hall in Appleton. There was a great turnout, and we got to discuss a multitude of topics that impact the taxpayers of Wisconsin.
