56th Assembly District Update: April 18, 2025

Colleges And Universities Committee Holds Hearing

On Thursday I chaired a hearing of the Assembly Committee on College and Universities. We heard testimony on the Higher Education portion of the proposed state budget from Dr. Eric Fulcomer of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, University of Wisconsin System President Jay Rothman, and Layla Merrifield, President of the Wisconsin Technical College System. I made a point to ask each of them about the continued waste and abuse we see in DEI Programs at every level of Higher Education. These programs are divisive and provide no discernable return on investment. I will continue use my platform as Committee Chairman to ask hard questions, and hold the leaders of Higher Education in Wisconsin accountable for how our tax dollars are spent.

District & Capitol Meetings

Wisconsin State Rep. Dave Murphy toured The Classical School in Appleton.

Last week I had the opportunity to tour The Classical School in Appleton. It was an amazing opportunity to meet with students, and to see first hand how innovative this charter school is. Thank you to Principal Nick Winch, and Instructor Ben Gilberts for leading the tour.
