19th Senate District Update: April 25, 2025

Happy Friday!

I hope you and your family are taking advantage of having the 2025 NFL Draft right in our backyard! This single event is expected to draw over 250,000 people to Northeast Wisconsin, so whether you’re up in Green Bay or watching from home, make sure to stay safe and plan ahead.

This week, the Senate held a floor session to vote on several important bills, including extending care for postpartum moms up to one year. This important legislation would bring us in line with 48 other states that have already taken this critical step to support moms. Another bill worth highlighting is Senator Testin’s bill protecting the use of certified seed potatoes. This legislation will provide DATCP with additional enforcement authority over Wisconsin’s current seed potato laws, protecting potato farmers in our district and around the state.

The Senate Health Committee held a public hearing this week on proposals regarding entering into multi-state licensure compacts, expanding the utility of the Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Program, and ways to support our EMS services in areas of need. The next step is to vote them out of committee and get them to the floor!

I was also able to meet down in Madison with the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition, Wisconsin Dental Hygienists Association, Hims and Hers, and Maxim Healthcare Services to discuss budget priorities and important legislation for this session. We made progress on critical proposals that will increase access and affordability for patients and providers alike.

Lastly, shoutout to Wyldewood Christian School in Oshkosh for making the trek down to Madison this week!

Students and staff of Wyldewood Christian School in Oshkosh visited Madison and State Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara during a floor session of the Wisconsin Senate.
Thank you to Wyldewood Christian School in Oshkosh for visiting during our floor session this week!
