Honoring Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Michael Hert
[see featured photo above] This week, I had the privilege, alongside Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara, of recognizing Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Michael Hert of Oshkosh for his extraordinary service to our country and community. Michael honorably served 31 years in the U.S. Army, National Guard, and Reserves, including five combat deployments and an overseas Cold War posting. Even while serving, he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, demonstrating perseverance, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to learning. After retirement, Michael dedicated himself to supporting veterans and strengthening Oshkosh. From leading the Disabled American Veterans and serving as Chaplain for multiple organizations, to creating programs like Operation Cabin Fever and producing The Outpost program, his contributions have made a lasting impact on countless lives. Our community is stronger because of leaders like Michael Hert, and I am grateful for his service, dedication, and example.Meet Our Intern!
