Fox Valley Initiative will open its 2025 meeting season at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6, at FreedomProject, 750 North Hickory Farm Lane, Appleton. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
Melissa Niffenegger, a member of the De Pere School Board, will discuss her efforts to get the school district to listen more closely to parents’ concerns about the curriculum and what young people are being exposed to in classrooms. She will be joined on the program by Laura Ackmann, chapter chair for the Winnebago County Chapter of Moms 4 Liberty.
Niffenegger is a wife, mother of two, and local coffee shop owner. As a school board member, she has taken a stand against the radical left on gender identity, curriculum transparency, and taxing and spending. For this she is under attack by the “progressive” majority on the school board and by the administration. Bill Savage of the Wisconsin Conservative Digest says, “her detractors are bullying her, trying to silence her and keep debate on her ideas off the agenda.”
Niffenegger has criticized the De Pere schools’ administration for failing to comply with Wisconsin’s Act 20, the new literacy bi-partisan bill passed in 2022. She filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction — a move that has the administration and liberal board members none too happy.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend; the event is free of charge although donations will be appreciated. If you know one (or more) school board members, please extend to them a special invitation to this meeting. Fox Valley Initiative would appreciate your advance registration so it knows how many chairs to set up in the meeting room!
