Fox Valley Initiative will host a discussion of child care in Wisconsin on Monday, June 2, at Freedom Project Academy, 750 North Hickory Farm Lane, Appleton. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with the program beginning promptly at 6:30 p.m.
State Rep. Joy Goeben represents the 5th Wisconsin Assembly District, which includes Freedom, Hobart, Seymour, and neighboring communities. She chairs the Committee on Environment and is vice-chair of the Committee on Education. She also serves on the Committee on Children and Families, Committee on Housing and Real Estate, Committee on Jobs and Economy, and Committee on Regulatory Licensing Reform.
Eric Balza is community relations consultant for Child Care Resource and Referral, Inc. CCR&R is a 501(c)(3) community-based non-profit agency offering services to parents, child care providers, employers, and the community, aiming to improve the quality and accessibility of early childhood education and care.
Goeben and Balza will discuss child care challenges, opportunities, and needed reforms in Wisconsin, including:
- the cost impact on families
- challenges facing the industry
- $770 million intervention with time-limited Federal funds (Child Care Counts program)
- legislative responses to the termination of Child Care Counts funding.
