High Grading Standards
Currently, far less than 50% of our students are efficient in Math and Reading. We can change this with stronger teacher support, lowering class sizes and providing relevant learning materials. We must focus teaching on fundamentals.
Parent Involvement
We need to encourage parents to be a part of their kids’ education, through communicating with their schools and knowing the curriculum. Participating in homework and extracurricular activities will allow parents to be familiar with what their kids are learning.
Budget
On average, AASD has a healthy budget. Through paying down debts and utilizing state funds, we’ve accrued millions in savings. Let’s direct these dollars towards increasing teacher pay and purchasing relevant materials.
Safety
Schools should be the safest place for students to be. We can guarantee this by strengthening security and routinely practicing a variety of drills that reflect unlikely, dangerous scenarios.
