Grand Chute is a town that borders the City of Appleton to its South and East and encompasses some 22.8 square miles. As reported in the “history” section, it is the region’s shopping center but also includes farmland and rural neighborhoods in its northern and western areas.
According to the Census Bureau, Grand Chute has a population of 23,831 making it the largest town by population in the state of Wisconsin. The median value of an owner-occupied housing unit in 2021 was $209,700. Median household income was $71,331 and per capita income was $42,270.
Appleton International Airport, located just west of Grand Chute in Greenville, is also an economic engine for the area. According to Wikipedia, “it is the third busiest of eight commercial airports in Wisconsin in terms of passengers served. In 2016 the airport contributed $676 million to the Northeastern Wisconsin economy. In May 2018, Appleton International Airport was the fourth fastest growing airport in the U.S.”
