As a voter in the 4th Common Council District of Appleton, I am concerned about the February 20 primary. I sincerely hope all voters in the district will do their homework on the candidates.
Candidate Virgil Van Asten owns a local computer services company, Integrated Solutions Inc., and is a lifelong Appleton resident. Candidate Martyn Smith teaches religious studies at Lawrence University. But who exactly is Christopher B. Quann, and what qualifies him to serve as our alderman?
Here’s what I know: Voter records show Quann has not voted even once in the 85 Wisconsin elections that have taken place since February 2006. He is currently registered to vote in Wisconsin, but it appears he had been registered to vote in Salt Lake City since January 1994. Whitepages.com seems to show a $1.5 million home in Salt Lake City, Utah as his primary address.
I’m hoping Mr. Quann will respond to this letter, or perhaps the Post-Crescent will do interviews with all the candidates in this primary, so we can better judge whether he’s qualified to serve residents of the 4th Common Council District.
