This past Tuesday, the Senate Committee on Education & Committee on Universities and Revenue met to hold public hearings on a few high-profile bills.
In the Senate Committee on Universities and Revenue, we heard more about Senate Bills 1 and 2, both of which look at reducing the tax burden in Wisconsin.
In the Education Committee, I was able to testify in support of one of my bills (Senate Bill 74) along with Representative Shae Sortwell (R-De Pere). This amended bill would allow parents another opportunity to submit an application to send their kid to a school of their choice. Additionally, we considered several executive appointments and a few other pieces of legislation.
In addition, my staff and I had productive meetings with:
- Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield
- UW Oshkosh Students
- Local Walmart employees
- Bankers Association
- Realtors Association
- UW Madison Alumni
- Audubon Great Lakes
- Conservation Voters
- Wisconsin Assisted Living Association
- ESTHER
Budget Process
Wisconsin is at its strongest fiscal position in decades. Republicans will continue to do what we’ve done, and that is legislate fiscal responsibility.
The Joint Finance Committee had its final public hearing this week. I am looking forward to providing an update next week.
In the meantime, I still encourage you to submit any budget-related feedback to: https://legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments/Â Â
As taxpayers and members of our community, your input is vital to this process… I encourage you to take time and share your thoughts!
