Hello! This week, my staff and I were happy to meet with some incredible folks around the district. The highlight of the week was touring the Waupaca Foundry. This is an important commercial business in our district that makes iron castings that are used in many industries including rail, commercial vehicles, and much more.
During my visit, I was also presented with the Working for Wisconsin Award by the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce business association. This award is dedicated to work promoting a better business environment for manufacturing and commercial businesses.
We were also able to attend the groundbreaking for Copperstone Assisted Living’s new assisted living facility in Clayton. This event brought together community leaders to showcase expanded access to memory care in our region!
The Free Speech for Campus board and America 250 Commission both met this week as well. We’re continuing to work towards advancing free speech next session and preparing for America’s 250th in 2026!
I also want to highlight a new commercial driver training grant available to training providers in our state. The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is encouraging applications to increase the number of people holding a Commercial Driver License (CDL) in Wisconsin. Providers must apply by Nov. 21, 2024, to be considered for funding.
