Returning The Surplus Floor Speech
Last Wednesday, the Assembly debated the surplus tax relief package on the floor. I chose to give a speech which you can watch here.
As a reminder from last week the package included meaningful tax relief:
- $850 million for income tax rebate checks — with married joint filers receiving $600 and individual filers getting $300
- $600 million in special education reimbursements and general school aid to help lower property taxes
- The complete elimination of the state income tax on cash tips and overtime income
The package passed the Assembly on a bipartisan basis (61-32). However, it ultimately failed in the State Senate. You can read the bill here.

Memorial Day 2026

As we approach Memorial Day in this 250th anniversary year of our nation’s founding, I’m reflecting on the profound sacrifices made by our fallen heroes who gave their lives to defend our freedoms. From the battlefields of World War II to Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and most recently in the conflict with Iran, their courage and selflessness have secured the liberties we enjoy today.
This Memorial Day weekend, I invite you to join me as we honor these brave men and women and remember their families — especially our Gold Star families — who carry the heaviest burden. I’ll be participating in remembrance events in Appleton on Saturday and Hortonville on Sunday. Let’s come together to honor their memory and ensure their legacy of service and sacrifice endures in our hearts forever.
