ATW Tour
Yesterday, I was fortunate to meet with Abe Weber, the Appleton International Airport (ATW) Director, and Scott Volberding, ATW Assistant Airport Director, to discuss the daily operations of the Airport and tour the construction of their new expanded concourse.
The new terminal will include 10 new gates and is expected to open in April 2025! Abe and Scott also shared how the Appleton Airport has nearly doubled in size over the past decade and how they continue to expand their services to reach a greater amount of people throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
Appleton Airport has a $700 million impact on the local economy. As the Transportation and Infrastructure Vice Chairman on the Subcommittee on Aviation, I look forward to working together on issues in the future.
BenShot!
This week, I toured the BenShot facility, which is a family-owned business located in Appleton. Bruce and Ben, father and son, founded the company in 2015.
We toured the facility with Ben and spoke with their dedicated staff about the company’s continued growth as well as the work that goes into designing and creating glassware that is handmade in the USA. BenShot also holds veteran events throughout the year at their Appleton location where veterans from the community can build relationships, tour the facility, and make their own BenShot glassware.
As I’ve always said, small businesses and entrepreneurs are the backbone of Wisconsin’s economy!

I was happy to join former Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmidt for his “Lean Local” radio show this week.

HALO Meeting
On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to speak at the HALO (Howard, Hobart, Ashwaubenon, Lawrence, and Oneida Nation) meeting hosted by the Oneida Nation.
During this meeting, we discussed the challenges their communities are facing at the federal and local levels and how I can best assist them in Congress. I was honored to provide updates on our work in Congress and share the progress our office has made since I was sworn in three months ago.
I am committed to strengthening partnerships with the numerous communities in Northeast Wisconsin and addressing their priorities.
Kaukauna Visit
This week, I met with Kaukauna Mayor Tony Penterman and we had the privilege to meet dozens of constituents who work in the Electric City.
I was honored to witness firsthand the hardworking and dedicated individuals who work at the Badger Hydro and Water Treatment Plant and to thank our local heroes at the Kaukauna Fire Department.
I enjoyed having the opportunity to address the Kaukauna Utilities Council Meeting and hear how I can best assist them.
I also visited the over 140-year-old Ahlstrom Paper Mill that has been an employer to generations of dedicated and skilled constituents throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
Meeting Marinette Mayor
Yesterday, I enjoyed meeting with Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot to discuss how I can be helpful to the City of Marinette in Congress.
I look forward to many more meetings with our local elected officials to build strong relationships to better benefit the people of Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District.
