Hello! This week, the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Revenue held a public hearing for a number of bills related to broadband expansion, data centers, and more. A lot of these proposals will help our rural communities become more connected and unlock more opportunities!
I also helped organize a Wisconsin Hospitals Association workforce briefing that creates recommendations for health care employers, educators, and public policymakers on how they can best support a health care workforce that meets the needs of patients in Wisconsin.
I met with UW Regent Amy Bogost, the chair of the Board of Regents, to discuss budget priorities for UW System this session. I also met with the Department of Children and Families Secretary Pertl as part of the confirmation process and to discuss the agencies priorities for this session. I met with our new Senate Sergeant-at-Arms as an introduction but to also discuss capitol security and senate procedure. I also met with the Wisconsin EMS Association and St. Coletta of Wisconsin to discuss their budget and legislative priorities this session.
In district, I was able to tour the Wautoma protein powder plant. It was great to learn more about how these folks in Wautoma use Wisconsin whey to make this protein powder. I also met with Sheriff Wilz and Representative Petersen in Waupaca to discuss the department’s priorities and some of the challenges they’ve been facing.
