First, I want to take time and remember our brave soldiers, sailors, and airmen who stormed the beaches of Normandy today to free a continent from tyranny. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. As a reminder of the weight of this moment, take time to read General Dwight Eisenhower’s message to the troops before they landed in continental Europe.
It was quite a busy week down in Madison! We were able to meet with many folks, ranging from doctors in our area to assisted living referral agencies and surgical technologists. We discussed a number of issues, including finding patients the right care settings, prior authorization complications, and licensure. All were productive discussions on how we can find the most effective ways to accomplish future or already-introduced legislation down in Madison.
Both the Senate committees on Agriculture and Revenue and Health met this week as well. In the Agriculture and Revenue Committee, we held a public hearing on bills for rail modernization and prohibiting foreign entities from owning agriculture or other real property in Wisconsin.
In the Senate Health Committee, we were able to move several proposals regarding health-related topics through the public hearing process. These included making our school meals safer by removing dangerous chemicals, increasing access to telehealth, and making assisted living referral agencies more transparent.
I also had the pleasure of talking with many folks around our area about upcoming events, issues they are facing, and more!
I hope you enjoy your weekend.
