Last week, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers raised the “Progress Pride Flag” over the state capitol and authorized, through Executive Order, state buildings and all jurisdictions within the state of Wisconsin to fly the Progress Pride Flag for the month of June for the “purposes of recognizing Pride month”. I believe this was done in open defiance of the will of the majority of Wisconsin’s citizens but no one asked us how we felt about it. The Governor has the authority to issue this order through Wisconsin Administrative Rule 2.07(1) which states: The United States flag and the flag of the state of Wisconsin shall be the only flags flown, hung, or displayed from any state office building or facility, except as the governor may direct.
What Is the Progress Pride Flag?
If we have learned anything from the havoc wreaked on the country over the past few years it is the importance of paying attention. Radical liberals are pushing to fundamentally change the country and the complacency of the masses creates fertile ground for unwanted change. It is highly likely that many accept Evers flying the Progress Flag with a shrug, oblivious to what it stands for and wanting to be “kind” to everyone.
In 1978, the first rainbow Pride Flag was designed as a symbol of the “struggle for equal rights and recognition” of what is now referred to as the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2018, the flag was redesigned and was renamed the “Progress Pride Flag”. “Progress” was selected to signify the advances made in promoting this agenda and to acknowledge that much more “progress” is needed. It expanded the meaning of the flag beyond homosexuality to represent transgender, non-binary, marginalized people of color and those affected by AIDS/HIV.
There is an ongoing push by liberal activists to force the normalization of the behavior of extreme subsets of the population into the societal mainstream. The acronym used to describe them keeps expanding and, as it does, it embraces lies and sick behaviors that are morally disgraceful. The latest acronym is LGBTQIA+. This is what it means:
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual – sexually attracted to the same sex or to both sexes
- Transgender – individuals whose “gender identity” is different than their biological gender at birth
- Queer – an umbrella term to describe a wide range of gender and sexual identities that can be used by individuals who feel that other labels don’t fully capture their identity
- Intersex – born with sex characteristics that are not typically considered male or female. (This is a rare abnormality at birth that may involve malformed genitals, hormones and/or chromosomes. It is no different than the rare baby born with extra toes or extra chambers in the heart, but is being pushed as a variation of normal human sexuality)
- Asexual – experiencing little or no sexual attraction to anyone
- The + sign – represents a broad range of other sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions that are not specifically listed in the acronym. This includes identities like non-binary, pansexual, and genderfluid individuals
Live and Let Live Does Not Mean Celebrate All Choices
Freedom gives each of us the right to live the life we want to live as long as we are not infringing on the rights of others. I have had many friends and colleagues throughout my life who were not heterosexual. This fact was incidental to our relationships and I did not become aware of it because they were “in my face” with it. Like most people, their priorities and how they conducted themselves were shaped by many things that transcended their sexual leanings or interests.
Liberal extremists are not satisfied with live and let live. They are pushing hard to force not only acceptance, but celebration, of lies and immoral lifestyle choices. Increasingly this agenda is imposed on the general public in subtle and not so subtle ways. Tony Evers Executive Order to fly the Progress Pride Flag calls for building a Wisconsin that “celebrates all who call it home and where every person can stand boldly in their truth…”
Among the extremes, pharmaceutical companies have started subjecting the entire viewing public to marketing drugs they have developed to prevent AIDS/HIV in people who choose to engage in high-risk sexual behavior. The ads, shown throughout prime time, are filled with homosexual “meet ups” that make no effort to disguise that the agenda is sex with strangers and multiple partners. The preplanning that goes into these choices is called PrEP. According the “Healthy Sexual” website, “PrEP is for people who are HIV negative and may have a higher chance of getting HIV through sex. You may benefit from PrEP if you currently don’t always use condoms, have a sexual partner(s) who don’t know their HIV status or have sex in an area where HIV is more common.”
A Call to Action
On April 1, Wisconsin voters overwhelmingly codified the requirement for voter ID in Wisconsin elections by amending the state Constitution through a referendum. The process is straightforward. An amendment is proposed in the state Legislature and must be approved by a majority vote in both the Senate and the Assembly. The approved amendment must then be approved by a majority vote of both houses during a second consecutive session of the Legislature. Once passed by both houses in 2 consecutive Legislative sessions, the Governor cannot veto the amendment. It then is placed on the statewide ballot as a referendum to the voters. The amendment is adopted if it receives the support of the majority of voters.
Tony Evers’ decision to subject the citizens of Wisconsin to his partisan agenda by flying the Progress Pride Flag alongside the flags of the United States of America and Wisconsin throughout the month of June leaves the citizens who strenuously object with no options short of limiting his power to do so.
In a stark contrast to the action taken by Evers, the Wisconsin Historical Society just announced they will no longer fly the Progress Pride Flag during the month of June, after many years of having done so. They explained their mission is to connect people to history and, as a nonpartisan agency, the society will no longer participate in advocacy outside of its mission. Evers chose to be highly partisan with an agenda that goes far beyond live and let live to imposing forced celebration.
A referendum of the people to amend the state Constitution to permit only the flags of the United States of America and the state of Wisconsin to be flown over buildings owned by the state would likely be passed overwhelmingly by people from both political parties. Today it is the Progress Pride Flag but tomorrow it may be a flag chosen by a partisan Republican governor advocating an issue liberal Wisconsinites find equally objectionable. The people of Wisconsin own the properties titled to the state. We can all take “pride” in the freedom that is symbolized in the flags of our country and our state. Let’s test the theory that most Wisconsin voters would support eliminating the Governor’s discretion in this matter by demanding our state legislators introduce this amendment to the Constitution as soon as possible. Amending the Constitution is a serious consideration not to be taken lightly, but we are forced to fight with the weapons we have against highly partisan elected leaders willing to use every means available to impose divisive political agendas. The Governor has already signaled he will veto a bill that limits his flag flying options. Let the people decide.
Addendum
For those who may be interested in a template to use in contacting your legislators, the following is a message to Senators and Representatives. You can find the name of your legislators at https://legis.wisconsin.gov/
I am writing to urge you to take the lead in the Assembly/Senate on a Constitutional Amendment to restrict flag flying or display in state-owned buildings to the official flags of the United States of America and the state of Wisconsin. Governor Evers’ recent Executive Order to fly the “Progress Pride Flag” over the Capitol and other state-owned buildings for the month of June illustrates that the people are at the whim of partisan governors who are willing to use the discretion they currently have to create controversy and division even in places all Wisconsinites should be able to enjoy. I believe if this matter is put to a referendum of the people, it will be passed overwhelmingly by voters from both political parties. It is my understanding that the legislature is considering a bill to restrict flag flying options and Governor Evers has already signaled he will veto it. Let the people decide.
