Congressman Tony Wied’s Update: August 22, 2025

It has been great to be back home in the district over this past month and get the opportunity to meet with so many of you and visit some of the fantastic businesses we have here in Wisconsin’s 8th District.

This past week, I had the opportunity to visit county fairs, our number of our first responders, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, see some bright young men become Eagle Scouts, and more. Being back home in Northeast Wisconsin with all of you is truly my favorite part of this job.

Before heading back to Washington in September, I wanted to make the most of my time here listening to business owners and community members to better understand how I can continue working on your behalf.

We’ve had a strong first half of the year in Congress. The passage of our One Big Beautiful Bill helped lower taxes, secure the border, eliminate taxes on tips and overtime, and deliver much-needed support for our farmers. We also passed important legislation like the Laken Riley Act, which ensures the deportation of illegal immigrants who pose a threat to public safety, and a rescissions package that cuts over $9 billion in wasteful spending. But there’s still much more work to be done.

I am very grateful for the time I have spent at home, but I look forward to getting back to Washington to continue fighting for each and every one of you.

Thank you for starting your weekend off with us! I hope you enjoy this week’s edition of The Wied Wire.

District Update

Roundtable Discussion with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion held at NWTC to discuss our workforce here in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District. It was great to hear from NWTC alumni and employers to discuss their needs, how they continue innovative practices, and how I can be helpful to them in Congress. The trades play an important role here in Northeast Wisconsin and throughout our country. Thank you to NWTC for your hospitality and for all of the participants for sharing your experiences!

Soaring Eagle Scouts
I had the pleasure of attending the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Landon and Harper Collegnon in Ashwaubenon this past weekend. The unwavering commitment and tireless efforts that these young men have shown during their scouting journey is truly impressive. Congratulations again to Landon and Harper on such a remarkable accomplishment!

Community American National Bank Board of Directors Meeting
I attended the Community American National Bank Board of Directors Meeting in Appleton earlier this week to connect with many community leaders and to hear about how I can be helpful to them in Congress. It was great to discuss several topics, from burdensome regulations to support of small businesses, and I want to thank American National Bank Fox Cities and all of the board members for their hard work and service provided to the community.

Healthcare Heroes: Children’s Wisconsin Appleton Clinic Visit
[see featured photo above] I had the opportunity to visit the Children’s Wisconsin Clinic located in Appleton to learn about the more than 20 services they provide to individuals and families throughout Northeast Wisconsin. The world-class clinic also includes one of the sixteen Child Advocacy Centers (CAC) across the state, which provided services to 633 children in 2024. I want to thank the team at Children’s Wisconsin for hosting me and for the great work and services you provide right here in Northeast Wisconsin!

Welcoming the SBA Deputy Administrator to WI-08!
It was a pleasure to welcome Deputy SBA Administrator Bill Briggs to Wisconsin’s 8th District to highlight some of the incredible businesses we have here in our backyard. We toured several businesses who are driving our economy here in the district and who employee men and women who are working hard every day. Thanks to our One Big Beautiful Bill, these businesses will continue to thrive for years to come.
