Testifying on AB 282 10/29
On Wednesday October 29th I testified in the Committee on Local Government on a bill I drafted and circulated.
AB 282 ensures that the rules of proceeding for local governments do not prohibit the governing body from taking up an ordinance or resolution that has previously been taken up and voted on but not enacted or adopted as long as the new ordinance or resolution is taken up at least two years later.
I authored this bill to clarify when a failed ordinance proposal can be taken up at a future date. Board majority opinions change, elections happen and members are replaced. This law would ensure that local boards can respond to the current will of the electorate.

Testifying on AB 393 10/29
On Wednesday October 29th I testified in the Committee on Transportation on on a bill I drafted and circulated.
AB 393Â streamlines the process for bus drivers to get medically cleared by allowing medical professionals to certify to the DOT that a bus driver is safe to operate the vehicle instead of waiting months for clearance from the Madison bureaucrats. This bill also aligns standards with all of our Midwest state neighbors for bus drivers 70 years and older by requiring them to re-certify every 4 years instead of every 2.
I authored this bill because school bus driver shortages are negatively affecting our schools and students across Wisconsin.
While nationwide, older operators make up 25% of our school bus drivers, Wisconsin’s overburdensome regulations have lowered that percentage to 12%. We are losing out on so many good drivers who want to serve our communities and help our kids, but they quit because they just get sick of these burdens that don’t add anything to our kids’ safety.
We should align with other states and keep our safe bus drivers on the road.

Testifying on SB 381 10/29
On Wednesday October 29th I testified in the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety on SB 381.
SB 381 specifies that if the Wisconsin Supreme Court imposes a suspension for a judge due to conduct, the suspension will be without pay.
In April of this year Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was suspended by the Wisconsin Supreme Court after being charged with two federal criminal offenses. She is seen on video helping a violent illegal immigrant evade federal law enforcement. While the Court did suspend and relieve her from her official duties, she has still been authorized to receive her salary of $174,512. Dugan’s court date was originally scheduled on July 21st, but was delayed until December of this year. Taxpayers have been funding an extended vacation for her, while paying additional taxpayer dollars for reserve judges filling in. This bill is written to prevent a judge that is suspended from collecting their salary and to protect Wisconsin taxpayers from the misconduct and/or commission of a crime by rogue judges.
Bill Update
I am happy to share that Governor Evers signed my bill, AB 149 which ensure 3rd parties have a right to run their Presidential candidates in Wisconsin into law as Wisconsin Act 47.
