Nuclear Power Summit Board Meeting
Earlier this legislative session, I authored Assembly Bill 132, which was enacted into law as Act 11. The act designates Wisconsin to host the Wisconsin Nuclear Power Summit, and this week marked the first meeting to kick off planning for this exciting event.
Having worked on considerable laws and legislation to advance nuclear power in Wisconsin, I look forward to continuing this work by serving on our state’s Nuclear Power Summit Board. The summit will be a key opportunity to showcase our state’s research, development, and manufacturing sectors, which make Wisconsin ready to lead in the nuclear industry.
Nuclear power is critical to meeting our state’s growing energy needs. With the summit plan enacted into law, the board members and I have begun crafting the event as an essential step in laying the groundwork and developing Wisconsin’s roadmap for advancing nuclear power and technology.
Local Healthcare Resources
Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) provide comprehensive information and assistance to older adults, people with disabilities, and their families. These centers serve as a guide to explain available services, support constituents in understanding their long-term care options, and connect them with relevant and appropriate programs. As of October 2024, 51 ADRCs are serving every corner of the state.
The 2025-2027 budget provided a $3.7M increase in base allocations for aging and disability resource centers, including the following in the 4th Assembly District:
- Brown County
- 2025 allocation: $1,725,543
- 2026 allocation: $1,800,691
- Overall increase: $75,148 or 4.4%
- Wolf River Region serving Oconto County
- 2025 allocation: $949,045
- 2026 allocation: $982,766
- Overall increase: $33,721 or 3.6%
Families of individuals with developmental disabilities often turn to ADRCs during major life changes, and this additional funding helps ensure residents of the 4th can continue to have reliable, local access to information in a time of need. I’m glad to have supported these resources for the district.

Wisconsin Ahead of the Curve
Last session, I authored Assembly Bill 108 to redefine and effectively ban strip searches of students by school officials. This issue arose following an incident in Northeast Wisconsin, and the bill gained widespread support before being signed into law. I interviewed with Bloomberg Law to discuss how this issue is becoming increasingly prevalent, resulting in civil rights cases, settlements, and disturbing situations for families and youth throughout the country.
I’m proud to have authored Wisconsin’s law prohibiting these invasive and humiliating student strip searches–a critical step to protect the safety and dignity of our kids. With many states now seeking to protect students’ privacy rights in school, it’s great to see Wisconsin ahead of the nation on this issue. You can read the article here: https://news.
