Happy Friday!
This week was incredibly busy with a full schedule of committee hearings, discussions on legislative proposals, and valuable time spent connecting with folks across our area. The week began with a productive meeting of the Universities and Technical Colleges Committee, where several important proposals were put to a vote. I’m especially pleased that one of the measures my office has been actively advocating for—streamlining the dual enrollment process for high school students statewide—moved forward.
We continued the momentum with hearings in the Agriculture and Revenue Committee, which focused on strategies to ensure Wisconsin remains a national leader in research, development, and nuclear technology. That same day, the Senate Committee on Mental Health held an important hearing taking a look at multiple bills, including those addressing federal per diem payments and providing support for various mental health providers.
On Wednesday, the Senate Agriculture Committee advanced several key proposals, including a bill I was proud to support that would prohibit foreign adversaries from purchasing agricultural or forestry land in Wisconsin. Public hearings also took place in the Assembly Committee on Regulatory Licensing Reform and the Senate Committee on Health. In the Assembly, lawmakers heard my proposal to modernize Wisconsin’s audiology statutes, which have remained largely unchanged since the 1980s despite significant advances in technology and professional training for audiologists. Meanwhile, the Senate Health Committee considered measures that would provide health care providers with greater scheduling flexibility and allow responsible parents improved access to their minor children’s medical records. Later that afternoon, it was a privilege to join constituents from our district during the Farmers Union advocacy day and hear directly from them on the issues that matter most to them.
Thursday took us out on the road for a series of meaningful conversations throughout the district. We started in Manawa to receive updates on the ongoing dam reconstruction project, then traveled to New London to discuss proposed policies for public museums across Wisconsin. The day wrapped up in the Appleton area with productive discussions on election reform initiatives. Each of these meetings was constructive—thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to share their perspectives and advocate on these important topics!
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
