Question of the Week

Do you think there is still any merit in using live animals for medical testing? If so, what are the reasons? Click here to answer!

Committees

We had another busy week at the State Capitol! This week, I attended one committee assembly hearing and three of my bills were heard in Senate committees.

In the Senate Committee on Education, I testified in support of Senate Bill 785, which relates to including information about investigations of license holders in an online licensing portal maintained by the Department of Public Instruction. This bill, which I authored with Senator Jagler, helps protect children and empowers families by increasing transparency. It is a common-sense education reform, and I look forward to seeing it voted out of committee.

Senate Bill 851 was heard in the Senate Health Committee, which I co-authored with Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara. The bill prohibits using live animals in medical training when alternatives or other accredited programs without live animals exist and includes a $1,000 penalty for violations. This is a significant step toward more humane and modern medical education.

Senate Bill 898 was also heard in the Senate Health Committee, another bill I co-authored with Senator Cabral-Guevara, which adds two registered pharmacy technicians to the Pharmacy Examining Board. Including pharmacy technicians will bring valuable frontline experience to the board, helping ensure licensing decisions reflect the full scope of pharmacy practice and improve public safety.

School Choice Week!

This week, School Choice Wisconsin and the National School Choice Awareness Foundation hosted a School Choice celebration at the Wisconsin State Capitol. Legislators shared why school choice matters and what it means for families across our state. The event showcased Wisconsin’s many educational options and the opportunities they create for students to learn and succeed. It was great to meet students from Wyldewood Christian School and connect with families while celebrating school choice in Wisconsin.

Credit Union Advocacy Day!

This week also marked Credit Union Advocacy Day. Credit union representatives gathered at the Capitol to discuss their legislative priorities with lawmakers. I had the chance to meet with representatives from credit unions serving the 55th Assembly District. It was fantastic to see so many credit unions actively represented right here in our district, advocating for policies that help provide affordable financial services, support local businesses, and strengthen the economic well-being of our community.
