55th Assembly District Update: March 6, 2026

Question of the Week

What do you think is the fairest way to draw the legislative maps in the state of Wisconsin (please be specific)? Click here to answer!

District Day

This week, I had the opportunity to travel throughout the 55th Assembly District—passing out blue books, presenting two legislative citations, and stopping by the Oshkosh Public Library to select a piece of student artwork, created by a local student, that will be displayed in my office.

SMCS Legislative Citation

[see featured photo above] I started my day at Saint Mary Catholic High School, where I had the honor of presenting a legislative citation to Vivie and Adel for their remarkable achievement of winning back-to-back WIAA State Championships in Doubles Tennis. Together, they have gone an incredible 59–0 and brought home two state titles.

Blue Book Drop-Off

After the citation presentation, I spent time visiting several local schools throughout the district to hand out Blue Books. My stops included Saint Mary Catholic Middle School, Valley Christian Elementary School, Wyldewood Christian School, Oshkosh Lourdes Elementary School, and Neenah Lutheran Elementary School.

At Neenah Lutheran, I was invited into a fourth-grade classroom where I had the opportunity to speak with students and take their questions. The fourth graders asked some excellent questions about state government, and it was great to see such curiosity and enthusiasm from the next generation of Wisconsinites.

Helen Farnsworth Mears Art Contest

After dropping off Blue Books, I stopped at the Oshkosh Public Library to select a piece of artwork created by a local student to display in my office in Madison. This year, 90 pieces were submitted to the Helen Farnsworth Mears Art Contest, showcasing the creativity and talent of students across the Oshkosh area. I selected a drawing by Aurelia, a student from Oshkosh Lourdes Middle School. The contest is a wonderful opportunity for local students to showcase their artistic talents and creativity.

Winneconne Legislative Citation

To end my district day, I visited Winneconne High School to present a legislative citation to the Winneconne football team for winning the Division 4 WIAA State Championship this past fall. It was great to talk with the players and coaches and celebrate this big accomplishment with them!

BridgeMadison Panel Discussion

This week, I had the opportunity to attend a panel at UW–Madison hosted by BridgeMadison titled “AI Data Centers in Wisconsin: Economic Opportunity, Community Impact, and Potential Challenges.” The panel included Representative Maureen McCarville and Associate Professor Anna Haensch from the UW–Madison Data Science Institute. It was an effective and insightful discussion that explored the economic opportunities data centers can bring to Wisconsin, while also addressing energy demands, data privacy, and the importance of community input.
