During the 119th Congress, House Republicans have worked hard to pass common-sense legislation that makes government work better for you and delivers real results for everyday Americans.
In fact, we have passed over 900 bills since January 2025, and more than 700 are still sitting in the Senate waiting for them to act. Many of these bills are straightforward, commonsense reforms to cut red tape, lower costs for hardworking Americans, and get Washington out of the way so families and small businesses can thrive. But that’s not all – they also include critical legislation like the Farm Bill and the SAVE America Act.
The number one reason the Senate can’t get these bills across the finish line is that Democrats have chosen to filibuster almost every single bill – even the ones that passed the House with broad, bipartisan support. Without 60 votes to pass these bills, they have been able to stonewall and keep our government stagnant instead of working for you.
Just this past week, Democrats like Senator Tammy Baldwin blocked legislation supported by the vast majority of the American people. As you know, back in July, the House passed the Stop Insider Trading Act to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks. However, this week, the Senate blocked its passage. Senator Baldwin stated that her reasoning for voting no was that the legislation did not go far enough. While I agree with that statement, unlike her, who chose to do nothing about it, I still supported the legislation and went further by introducing the SERVE Act to ban Members from becoming lobbyists or federal contractors for 10 years after leaving office – where a lot of the real corruption is.
In the process of blocking this legislation, Senate Democrats also blocked a straightforward nationwide Voter ID requirement. Voter ID is backed by 83% of the American people, including the vast majority of Wisconsinites, who overwhelmingly voted to enshrine it in our state constitution last year.
Most jarringly, in addition to blocking these bills, they also stopped the Senate from passing legislation to protect your tax dollars from footing the bill for data centers. As Wieders may remember, the House passed the Ratepayer Protection Act a few weeks ago to ensure data centers pay their own electricity bills instead of passing those costs on to American consumers. Democrats, including Senator Baldwin, couldn’t even bring themselves to support it because, in their minds, it would mean letting Republicans win. In the end, that choice denied the American people a win, and that’s what’s most disheartening.
At every turn, they have tried to prevent us from passing legislation that benefits you. During this Congress, we have seen every single Democrat vote against the largest tax cuts for working families in American history and cause the longest government shutdown in American history that inflicted pain on hardworking people. Now, they are blocking our efforts to save taxpayer dollars, require voter ID, and crack down on corruption.
It’s time for Senate Democrats to stop playing politics and do what they were sent to Washington to do – legislate. We have hundreds of common-sense pieces of legislation that will benefit hardworking Americans just waiting to be passed, and the American people can’t afford to wait any longer.
Thanks again for starting your weekend with us! We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of the Wied Wire.

[see featured photo above] I had a wonderful visit with Aspiro leadership and team members who highlighted their newly renovated facility in Green Bay. From day programs to employment services, Aspiro provides so many opportunities for people in our communities living with disabilities, and this updated facility will help them continue their mission. Thank you to Ryan and your incredible team for having me and for the great conversation!

On the Farm, In the Market, Working Together
It was great to connect with the Equity Livestock Sales team in Bonduel this week to learn about the more than 100-year-old operation and the 12 auction markets they have throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from buyers, producers, and members of the livestock auction team about how I can continue to be a partner for them in Congress.

Family Traditions
Since 1913, Lamers Dairy has been a family owned and operated dairy located in Appleton. For five generations, the operation has produced high-quality milk and dairy products for people throughout Northeast Wisconsin and beyond. It was a pleasure to connect with the Lamers Dairy team to learn more about their facility and continued innovation.
