Happy Friday!
This was a busy and productive week, with several key meetings both in Madison and across our area.
In the Capitol, our office met with utility managers from the New London area. We discussed the challenges facing municipal utilities, ways to enhance the value and reliability they provide to customers, and potential legislative priorities for the upcoming session. Ensuring consistent, reliable, and affordable energy remains a top focus.
I also met with leaders from the Department of Health Services to review progress on expanding access to quality healthcare, identify areas for improvement, and begin shaping legislative priorities for the next session. This included asking several clarifying questions about a new rule going into effect that would allow for integrated mental health and substance use disorder services.
Ending my time in the Capitol this week was a disappointing vote for a bipartisan compromise that would have send hundreds of millions of your money back to you, brought in no tax on tips and overtime, and would have slowed rising property taxes. Unfortunately, every Democratic colleague of mine voted against this proposal, and that money will continue to sit down in Madison,
Back in our area, I participated in the Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin’s regional roundtable in Appleton, where we discussed the current state of our transportation infrastructure and its impact on local businesses, neighborhoods, and the regional economy. I also attended the inaugural Fox-Wolf Summit, which provided a valuable update on water quality improvement efforts in the region.
Lastly, we held a productive listening session in New London where constituents shared their thoughts and concerns on a wide range of issues affecting daily life in our communities.
Upcoming Event:Â We will host another listening session at the Black Creek Village Library on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. I hope to see many of you there!
Have a wonderful weekend!

On Tuesday, we met with representatives from the Department of Transportation, and they are working with their contractor to potentially reduce the impact on traffic in the area.
