On Monday, October 5, Fox Valley Conservatives will welcome Ann Tepoorten: citizen researcher, legislative analyst, and advocate for public safety and community well-being in the great state of Wisconsin. She will explain how complacency cost Minnesota $9 billion in fraud … and counting.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. at Freedom Project Academy, 750 North Hickory Farm Lane, Appleton.
Ann currently works in public housing in Wisconsin, continuing her work in public service and administration. She previously worked in the Minnesota House of Representatives, where she conducted legislative and policy research and gained a firsthand look at how government programs, oversight systems, and public dollars intersect. Her work also gave her an opportunity to examine concerns involving fraud, waste, abuse, and government accountability.
Her interest in fraud, waste, and abuse goes beyond numbers on a spreadsheet. She is particularly interested in understanding how these failures are allowed to happen, why warning signs are sometimes missed or ignored, and what government can do differently to protect taxpayers before millions—or billions—of dollars are lost.
She will take us inside what happened in Minnesota, examine some of the systemic failures that allowed it to happen, and discuss what Wisconsin can learn from Minnesota’s mistakes.
Ann has a background in criminology, legislative research, public policy, and public-sector administration. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminology with a minor in Leadership and is currently pursuing her MBA.
