This week, the Legislature passed landmark legislation that provides significant investments in Wisconsin’s local governments. After months of negotiations, the state Legislature came to an agreement with Governor Evers on the specifics of the shared revenue aid package. Under the proposal, every municipality in the state would see an increase of at least 20% in state aid, with many communities seeing much higher increases. Other provisions of the bill include a 3-year pilot program to promote innovation and efficiency in services provided by local governments, $275 million in new aid funding for communities, and the elimination of the antiquated personal property tax.
Wisconsin’s local government bodies provide services necessary for the wellbeing of our communities and their residents. This new funding will provide vital resources to local leaders in charge of administering law enforcement, fire, EMS, public works, transportation, and other core services. I was proud to support this important bill on the floor of the Assembly!

Addressing Wisconsin’s Housing Shortage
I was proud to vote for workforce housing legislation on the floor of the Assembly. A series of bills that passed the chamber this week would provide real solutions for our state’s housing shortage. If you’re an employer, employee, or prospective-homeowner, these bills are a step in the right direction towards providing you with tools to succeed.

In case you missed it, June 14th was Flag Day! On June 14th, 1777, the Continental Congress made the Stars and Stripes the official flag of the United States. We now set aside this day to remember the significance of the flag and reflect on what it symbolizes for so many. Happy Flag Day!
Fun fact about the red, white and blue: Did you know the current American flag was designed by a 17 year-old for a high school project in 1958? His teacher gave him a B but later changed his grade to an A when President Eisenhower chose his design for our country’s new flag!
