19th Senate District Update: February 16, 2024

Hello! This week, both the Senate and Assembly held floor sessions, voting on dozens of proposals. Several bills I was proud to lead the fight on are now headed to the governor’s desk. The first came to me from folks in Neenah who noticed a discrepancy between the federal ADA and our state law on service animal fee waivers. Another critical proposal, if signed in to law, will ensure our best and brightest students have a guaranteed spot at our University of Wisconsin campuses.

The Senate Committee on Health also met for one of the final times this legislative session. We heard and voted on two of the governor’s appointments to the Medical College of Wisconsin and nursing boards. We also advanced important legislation to assist the Eau Claire region with the recent HSHS closures and to test a pilot program that would place patients in a more appropriate post-acute care setting.

My staff and I were also happy to meet with:

  • The Council of State Governments
  • Central Wisconsin Days
  • Empowered Tutoring
  • The United Steelworkers
  • Fox Cities Advocates for Public Education
  • ADVOCAP Inc.
  • CESA 6

Next week, both the Senate and Assembly will again be on the floor and sending bills to the governor’s desk. I am also looking forward to many meetings around our area!
