End of Session Video Highlight:
Fair Hiring Constitutional Amendment

Wisconsin State Rep. Dave Murphy authored a constitutional amendment that restores Merit, Fairness and Equality to the State hiring process throughout Wisconsin.

The 2023-2024 Legislative Session has officially come to a close.  I recorded some videos that highlight some of the accomplishments I achieved on your behalf during the session.  This week I’d like to focus on an amendment I authored to our constitution that restores Merit, Fairness and Equality to the State hiring process throughout Wisconsin.  Click on the image above to watch the video and learn more.

As always, I am proud to serve you as your State Representative.  Next Session a new legislative map will be in place and the 56th Assembly District will have new constituents.  I have included a map of the new district at the bottom of the newsletter.  If you have any questions about your new district please feel free to call my office at (608) 237-9156 or email me at [email protected].gov.

A Thank-You from the Jewish Student Community

Chloe Astrachen and Ben Newman visited my office last week to thank me on behalf of the Jewish student community at UW-Madison for co-authoring a letter to UW-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin, urging Chancellor Mnookin - in the strongest possible terms - to protect Jewish students from intimidation and discrimination on the UW campus during the recent protests.

Wisconsin’s First Capitol, a Wisconsin Historical Society site, will open to the public on weekends beginning this Saturday, May 25.  Explore the modest white wooden buildings where in 1836 Wisconsin’s first laws were written.

Located near the picturesque hamlet of Belmont in Lafayette County, these restored historic structures mark the era of the state’s beginning foundations. From planning roads and railroads to establishing the judicial system and naming Madison as the capital city, First Capitol offers guests engaging exhibits to explore and discover the history of Wisconsin.

Next Week Will Be My Last e-Update for a While

Next week’s e-Update will be the last one I send to you for a while. State law prohibits elected officials running for re-election from sending out more than 50 pieces of identical material between June 1st and this November’s election.
