Floor Session

This week, the Assembly met on the floor to discuss and vote on several important bills.

All of the bills were passed and will now move on to either the Senate floor or the Governor’s desk. The bills that were voted on include:

Business & Economy

  • AB 17: Creates tax credits and education programs to support employee ownership conversions.

  • AB 63: Allows nonprofit institutions to finance certain out-of-state projects.

  • AB 279: Provides talent recruitment grants.

  • AB 157 / SB 172: Bans recording contracts for services that do not improve real estate (with penalties).

Criminal Justice & Public Safety

  • AB 26 / SB 5: Increases penalties for threats or battery against jurors.

  • AB 53: Adds penalties for battery against community service officers.

  • AB 65: Penalizes entering a place with intent to commit battery.

  • AB 121 / SB 121: Recodifies battery laws.

  • AB 259 / SB 235: Creates a new offense for criminal trespass at campgrounds.

  • AB 273: Changes membership of the Controlled Substances Board.

  • AB 278 / SB 279: Provides grants to law enforcement for data-sharing platforms.

  • AB 285 / SB 283: Assists public safety workers with hearing protection.

Health & Mental Health

  • AB 111 / SB 106: Regulates psychiatric residential treatment facilities.

  • AB 113 / SB 108: Addresses sharing minors’ safety plans.

  • AB 176 / SB 152: Expands Alzheimer’s caregiver support program.

  • AB 107 / SB 98: Allows healthcare cooperatives to convert into insurance corporations.

Children & Families

  • AB 80: Ratifies the Social Work Licensure Compact.

  • AB 123: Changes how distance is calculated in child custody relocation.

  • AB 153: Requires reporting of income changes for child support cases.

  • AB 233 / SB 232: Grants funding to child advocacy centers.

Environment & Agriculture

  • AB 59 / SB 56: Authorizes federal funds for lead service line replacements.

  • AB 154 / SB 164: Requires use of certified seed potatoes.

Elections & Governance

  • AB 35: Penalizes improper withdrawal from candidacy.

  • AB 149: Revises rules for presidential elector nominations.

Energy & Infrastructure

  • AB 108 / SB 125: Studies nuclear power siting and streamlines permitting.

  • AB 132 / SB 124: Creates a board to organize a Wisconsin nuclear summit.

Privacy & Property

  • AB 171 / SB 169: Strengthens privacy protections for judicial officers.

  • AB 293 / SB 278: Sunsets the community-oriented policing-house grant program.

Fire & Emergency Services

  • AB 187: Offers training awards to volunteer firefighters.

Utilities & Corporations

  • AB 254 / SB 255: Regulates the Chippewa and Flambeau Improvement Company.
